"Super Powers" by Tom Whalen

This awesome tribute to the Super Powers line of toys is by artist Tom Whalen (click the image to go his DeviantArt page and see a larger, even more beautiful version)!

If I want to nit-pick, I could ask why Aquaman is so small (Cyborg, really?), but at least we know The Green Aaron will be happy. No matter what the placement of your favorite character from the line, this is one amazing piece.

This was sent in by our newest F.O.A.M. member, Ted Sullivan. Thanks Ted, and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

Great piece, without a doubt, but yeah... Aquaman was such a major player on Super Friends and all that, why does he get such non-placement here? Gah, nitpicking, but sheesh! hahaha

This is wonderful. Great fun trying to identify all the characters peering out of their little portholes. Here's a page I found that's really helpful:

I don't remember Aquaman having much of a role in Galactic Guardians, especially when compared to Firestorm and Cyborg. Vic's also the only real world prominent persons of color, so I could see giving him a push. J'onn J'onzz's prominence was surprising, especially given his absence from the cartoon.

I have definitely come across some great DC art pieces on deviant art, some really fun stuff.

Gah! Rob! I had almost forgotten this piece! I first came across it about two weeks ago and hmmm'ed and hah'd over it. $100 is really not that bad for such a lovely piece, but I put it off and had nearly forgotten about it and then YOU had to go and post it and now... sigh! I just HAD to pull the trigger. Oh well, if I think it enough, I can convince myself that this is a replacement for some of the art I lost in the flood. Yeah... that's the ticket!

Hmmmm... GA gets more prominent placement than Aquaman? It's like More Fun Comics all over again. Sorry, rob.
