Mexican Aquaman Comic - 1977

sg
This is the cover to a foreign language Aquaman comic (even though the title is, confusingly, Superman) published in 1977 by an outfit named Novaro. It reprints the entire story from Adventure Comics #442:

I love seeing foreign editions of Aquaman comics, I find it fascinating to get these glimpses of what my favorite characters looked like to people around the world.

These scans were sent in by our newest F.O.A.M. member, who simply goes by Jean from Chile, who was also nice enough to send in a pic of his mini-Aquaman Shrine:

I like how the two B&B Aquamen look like they're saying "Hola!"

Thanks for the pics Jean, and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

In Latin America, for a long time the series were titled after the most famous characters - a.k.a. Superman and Batman - and included stories of some of the others characters, just like our Aquaman here. The would usually be titled "Superman Presents", etc. It was a marketing strategy for a public that was not too familiar with some of the least known characters.

See rob!- It may be "Superman" but who gets the cover!? That's right. I've noticed from all the merch you've posted over the years that the Sea King seems to have been bigger in Latin America during the 70's and 80's than he ever was stateside.
