Why do they all look pissed off? I mean, WW, i can understand, since someone forgot to tell her to wear clothes, but really? Why is the JLA so JLAngry?

They're angry because the previous incarnation of the team they founded consisted of (I think) Wonder Girl, Ultra the Multi Alien, Detective Chimp, Space Cabby, and Mr. District Attorney.

Haha! Totally wrong, I think, but close enough!

Ok, I liked the smiling pic previously!

What, no Roy Raymond, TV Detective?!

On the variant, looks like someone shaved and changed Dr. Strange's costume and popped him on top of the JLA. Spooky...

I'm wishing DC the best for the relaunch but yeah ... I'm just not impressed here. The original Jim Lee cover is nice, but they're touting this "special" combo cover when it's just the same image with a different color background. How long did that take to change? Do they think any fan will specifically buy the other version just because of a different color background cover? It just seems silly and you'd think DC would know it's silly.

That's not even to get into the badly proportioned, over-sexualized Finch variant cover ...

CollEd-

Not to be all defensive of DC, but I don't think they're trying to sell people another copy of JL #1 based on that (admittedly) small cover change: rather, it's simply an easy way to distinguish the "standard" version from the one that comes with a free digital download, which is (presumably) the main reason someone would buy this alternate version.

rob!, totally with you on that, and I don't disagree that the combo pack should have it's own cover. I think it was the "Below, take a look at the cover for this special edition" on the Source blog that made me groan -- admittedly it says "cover for this special edition" and not "special cover for this edition," but still, I don't know if it warranted its own post and "take a look." Anyway, as long as the story is good ...

Fair enough. And I agree, promoting this as an alt cover is a tad misleading...

I'm with you, Ghost: I'm done with constantly-constipated heroes.

Yeah, sure you say - "But, Craig - do you want just go back to the goofy goodness of the early characters?"

No. There's a middle ground here...

It was called The Bronze Age.
