JLA Flashback #12

sg
Justice League of America Annual #2 - 1983. Cover art by Chuck Patton and Dick Giordano.

With a new era for the Justice League of America just a few hours away, I thought today would be the perfect time to run this cover for our JLA Flashback installment, when Aquaman took the team into a whole new direction!

I had no idea this was coming, when I picked the book up off the stands in 1983. I was certainly thrilled to see Aquaman so prominently featured, both on the cover and inside the book. Of course, the bright future promised on this cover was not to be, but let's not dwell on the negatives!

Great choice! I am excited about this new beginning, hoping for the best for the comics, characters and DC itself. Here's to many more years of enjoyment!

The first comic book that ever made me cry. And I really hated Aquaman for a few months after this. I was 9 after all!!!

Yeah, I had such hopes for this book when it came out. I was 13 years old and was stoked to see Aquaman leading the team finally. It could have been good. I liked that Martian Manhunter, Zatanna and Ralph stuck around and felt that would have been a great enough team all on it own. Vixen and Steel were both fine additions as well.

Vibe and Gypsy on the other hand..... well..... If Vibe hadn't been such a dated character (and a stereotype on top of that) he might have caught on better. Gypsy, well, I've never liked the character. Can't really explain why.
