I love the last panel, wherein the SWAT officer asks Aquaman if he needs a glass of water, and we get to see Aquaman's "I know where I want to put this trident, but I'm pretty sure it won't fit" face.
There's not a panel here that I don't just LOVE! The under-estimation by the cops AND robbers, the pose, the demonstration of sheer strength, the regality, bulletproof, facial expressions, and the glass of water gag, it's all brilliant!
This is the second time, though, they've shown a bullet knicking his face. I understand they want to illustrate that he's not *completely* impervious, but I hope all the newcomers (that's me being an eternal optimist) don't start to get the impression it's his suit or something.
The bullet that hit his head broke his skin, so he's not exactly bullet-proof, but his shirt must be. I guess there going with the idea that since he can withstand deep ocean pressures his skin must be super-tough. And his trident did the "truck-lifting" thing. I wonder if this is a real power upgrade or not.
I'm glad the mutton-chop sideburns we've see elsewhere are gone.
@Tim--I think the idea that bullets can cut his skin but not break through the bone and meat of him is in perfect keeping with his dense-ocean-pressures-adapted power set, and also incredibly bad ass. You can tell it still hurts but he just shakes it off. It's a fairly original bullet-deflecting gimmick, too, and goes a little way toward explaining how he can still lose a hand to a knife or a fish every other day of the week.
Considering he has been shown lifting an entire bus before during the Sub Diego era, I don't think he's been particularly buffed up with the possible exception of the bullet proofing. Has he shrugged off bullets before this revamp? I.E. before he came back during BN?
I maybe was a little loose with the term "bullet proof", but I kind of think of it as, if someone fires a bullet at you and it doesn't, you know, tear its way through your body, then you're effectively bulletproof.
I KNOW other comics have shown A-man having this level of invulnerability, but I'm blanking on which ones at the moment. I'll have to do some research.
It seems A-man's bulletproof-ness is like Luke Cage's--they don't kill, but they do sting like hell. And I'm totally okay with that, as long as Arthur doesn't go around saying "Sweet Christmas!"
Brightest Day had a very similar sequence in I think issue 1.. the bit with the pirate/kidnapper types. Bullets bounce off clothed bits, but drew a bit of blood on the head.... This is looking excellent though, cannot wait until sept
Wooooot! Hell, I think i just jizzed my pants! Jus hope johns tones the mocking down a bit or at least makes a point out if it, but other than that, HOT DAMN, THIS LOOKS GREAT!
This has the potintial to be THE BEST AQUAMAN SERIES EVAH!!!!!!!!
This is so amazing! Aquaman looks babin', he's kicking ass, and it's HILARIOUS.
Do you want a drink of water or something? Classic. So so excited. Can't wait to show my friends who are like "LOL AQUAMAN". I can pick which ones actually READ comics because of that -_-
My my, this does look pretty good. I hope they won't over do the bullet proof thing, but I certainly don't mind this long overdue, very clear, acknowledgement of just how tough Aquaman is. He's been shown to be more or less bulletproof in a JLA book back in the late 90's, early 2000's. He's on a roof being shot with a helicopter's minigun and is fine. I'm pretty sure he also took some bullets when he stormed the beach of that country, I forget the name, that went to war with Atlantis back in the early 90's.
Still, I like this. I just hope that they do a really good job with this book. We deserve a great Aquaman comic.

WOW!
This Sea King is a quiet badass!
Easy to get page one. View the images, change the name a little, and viola! I put them up on my site, as well.
Guess I don't need to worry about trying to get them through Zinio.com after all...
Thanks Laura!
Wow. Wow. Wow. I'm hesitant to say it for fear of jinxing it, but this is shaping up to be the Aquaman comic I've always wanted to read.
Why does this look so damn cool? I am excited! This may finally be it Aqua-fans!
I'm straight up giddy.
Awesome. The Sea King is back and better than ever!
All together now:
DON'T F--K WITH AQUAMAN!!!
I'm SO pumped!!!
The look on his face in the last panel. This is starting to feel like something special.
'Do you need a glass of water?' I love that! This looks awesome in ways only machines and child prodigies can count. Glad to have the humour back.

Jinxes be damned, I AM SO PUMPED.

I am just so stoked for this!

Oh yeah, and glad to see his trident actually being used for something... like flipping a damn truck! :)

LOL
This looks great. The only bright spot in this whole reboot in my opinion.

Rob? You're the expert. Do you know?

They're going to love this though!
