Aquaman Art Gallery: Isidore Koliavras

sg
This stunning, dramatic shot of the Sea King is by artist Isidore Koliavras, who style mixes photorealistic portraits with comic book-style colors and effects. Check out his website to see more amazing pieces like this one!

oh come on! This is a rip off of Alex Ross.(his is much better!) Maybe changed the face BARELY and shortened the trident. Ok, they added a background...and...? I hate to be negative, but I find nothing special about people copying other works by great artists! IMHO

Wow Rob - thanks for the plug! Glad you liked the picture too. It does homage the Ross piece but still the skill needed to do this in 3D is a talent in itself.

I'd definitely get a poster of each if I could!

Of course it's an homage to Ross, but it's not easy to take a painting and turn it into a new piece of work. Very talented!

Calling this a "rip off" of Alex Ross's work is very nearsighted.

Of course that image was an influence, but they are completely different pieces.

My praise for this stands!

Very nice piece! The interplay of the ocean and the background sky really sell the drama!

I looked through the guy's portfolio on his site. This piece isn't on there (it's by far his best in my opinion) and while this kind of illustration is totally not my cup of tea, he does have some talent for 3D rendering and for making hot-looking bodies. Especially if you're of the hetero persuasion.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but Aquaman graces the back cover of Grant Morrison's book "Supergods", available now.
