Aquaman Squatz

sg
Leaving no shape or form untouched by DC's marketing department, this is a new line of figures called "Squatz", featuring Weeble Wobble-shaped figurines of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Joker, The Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Green Arrow, The Penguin, Lex Luthor, Robin, Gorilla Grodd and, yes, Aquaman!
sg
...Aquaman looks like kinda Cartman-esque, don't you think?

Anyway, these figures are uniquely packaged and sold: they come two to a pack, with one figure's identity revealed and the other's hidden. You take the latter and drop it into a pan of hot water. The white coating covering the figure dissolves and, voila! The identity of the figure is revealed! (You can see a step-by-step examination of the process and close-up shots of the whole line here)

I'm not planning on buying these (unless I can find a solo Aquaman on eBay for cheap), but I am happy that Aquaman is part of the assortment. The only thing he needs is a Mera Squatz to cuddle up with...

Aww - Aquaman is a cool one no doubt but I think Gorilla Grodd would have to be my first grab!

Okay, this is just goofy. You have to dip it in water?!?

I hate to be "that guy" but it kind of sucks I feel like I'm watching Martian Manhunter's role being diminished in the DCU just as Aquaman's is making a comeback.

Though the off-model-ness of some of these (Green Arrow, Robin, and yes, Aquaman) is amusing, I don't see myself picking any of these up. I might regret that though, as I never bought that superdeformed Aquaman blammoid figure (or whatever they were called) when I had the chance and now I kinda wish I had.

Aquaman has really let himself go...

Interesting. I would have been all over these as a kid, adding them to my Weeble and Sesame Street playsets/toys. Oh, the adventures I would have had!

I think I could probably be talked into one of these, if I knew I was actually going to get one. Knowing it's just potluck and you might or might not get an Aquaman even after buying multiple sets basically cuts me out of the running here. If I could find a cheap one on ebay, maybe...

Yep, I've tried four times and never got an Aquaman. At $9 a pop (atleast where I saw them) I gave up trying. ;-(
I go to MEIJERS every 2 weeks or so to see if they are on clearance because then I'd buy them up...I have Batman and Robin and The Flash so Grodd, Joker, and Penguin would fit in okay....and if I tried those three I would HAVE to get an Aquaman, right?!

These are too cute. Wonder Woman looks like she does in JLA #7, the cosmic funhouse story.

And this would give me something fun to do while I'm boiling hotdogs.

This must be Earth-SP. It's the Earth that South Park resides on.

Wow, that is essentially the same lineup as the first wave of Super Powers action figures, except they swapped Green Arrow and Gorilla Grodd for Brainiac.

Maybe if they do a "Squatz Wave 2" we'll treated to oddly deformed figures of Dr. Fate, Tyr, and Golden Pharaoh!
