If any two can stop it, it's these two!
I'm guessing due to space and panel number limitations it was decided to have Superman carrying the Flash rather than show him running along below, which was/is more common in the books.
Well, The Flash wouldn't be able to reach the missile from the group. I'm assuming he'll defuse the bomb at super speed.
