Custom Mera Statue

sg
This dynamic Mera statue is, remarkably, a custom job by our newest F.O.A.M.er, Sandy Wright Johnston, who first posted it the other day on the Shrine's Facebook page.

Sandy took a 11 1/2" high Phoenix statue by Randy Bowen that had been damaged in transit, then "
[S]anded her down, did a total repaint, added the collar and *coral* crown. The water base is as the original was." Now that is the definition of making lemonade out of lemons!

Sandy also mentioned Mera has been her favorite character since she was a little girl (Sandy, not Mera). I think she did a fantastic job paying tribute to Aquaman's queen, with this truly one-of-a-kind piece.

Great job, Sandy, and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

Beautiful work!

And I've always thought that Jean Grey and Mera were kindred spirits from different comic book universes.
