Post Cereal Trading Card - 1981

sg
As I've stated many times before, I absolutely *love* it when someone sends me some piece of vintage Aqua-arcana that I've never laid eyes on before. After four years + of examining this stuff in obsessive detail, I sometimes think there are no new "old" things to find...

This was sent by F.O.A.M.er Anna Scherer, who says there were nine of these trading cards given away in boxes of Post cereal, but in Canada only--Aquaman here, plus Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Supergirl, and Batgirl.

I don't quite recognize this piece of artwork, but it seems highly unlikely DC commissioned new pieces for something like this. Anyone have an idea who did it?

I love it, thanks Anna!

I was thinking Alex Saviuk, perhaps?

Aquaman should necessarily be big in Canada. We've got three oceans!

I knew everything in Canada was supposed to be bilingual but I didn't know it extended to cereal box trading cards.

It looks like Saviuk to me too.

I can't say who it is art-wise, but I do like it.

I think it's actually the cover to a mini-comic giveaway from Canada, NOT a trading card. I believe I have a set of them somewhere in my Wonder Woman collection

Yeah, according to this auction, it's a mini-comic: http://cgi.ebay.com/1981-POST-CEREAL-CANADIAN-MINI-COMIC-PROMO-AQUAMAN-NM-/200544646684?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb164761c

I wish I knew more about these 9 comics myself.
