I can't believe it didn't occur to me to post this Xmas-centric piece in the weeks leading up to Dec. 25th. D'oh well, better late than never.
This collector's plate, of course, is by Alex Ross, and was one of the many specialty pieces he did for the late, great Warner Bros. Studio Stores (thanks a heap for closing those down, AOL). You've got the whole JLA (plus Plastic Man and Captain Marvel, who are part of the team on Earth-Ross) celebrating the holidays...except for Batman, who is all Sad Sack, despite his pal Kal's invitation to join in the festivities.
Not exactly sure what Aquaman is doing there, sort of just standing off to himself, arms folded. I hope Bats decides to show up, I think he and Aquaman are the kind of guys who would go off in a corner and talk shop all night.

Who is that behind Green Lantern (and appears to be giving him a shoulder massage...)?
That's Plastic Man.His body is behind GL while his head stretches around the tree behind Supes.
I have this plate. It stays up year round, but gets spotlight at Christmas-time. If Captain Marvel and Plastic Man can come in, why not Bats? He's true JLA!!!

I think Aquaman is missing Mera and the Atlantean Festival of Lights. He's about ready to blow this joint. ;-)
Yeah, I guess Aquaman feels out of place, maybe missing Mera and Aqua-baby?
I think Arthur is scowling disapprovingly at the plate of sushi that the Hawks (who appear to be hosting) set out for appetizers.
It kind of looks like Aquaman's trying to get a look at Wonder Woman without anyone noticing. I dont understand why Plastic Man is hanging on to GL's shoulders.... and people say Aquaman is "weird".
I own this plate. Very cool stuff :)
Anyone see the Atom in here? It seems like 90% of the time Alex Ross does something JLA related, the Atom is hidden in there somewhere on someone's shoulder or something, but I can't seem to spot him here.
And lol -- it seems like Aquaman is a little irritated about something. He's probably thinking, "Batman was smart in missing out on this one."
Huh--a closer inspection of the plate reveals no Atom!
The Atom's there. He's in the tree finding that one loose bulb that keeps the rest from lighting.

The Atom is on the table behind Wonder Woman, and is who Aquaman is having a conversation with. Space-hog Batman is covering him up.
