A couple weeks ago I got a surprise package in the mail from my pal (and Aquaman Shrine Patron Saint) Paul Kupperberg. In it were two oversized color prints--one of which you see here--drawn by the legendary Ramona Fradon and colored by the equally legendary Marie Severin!
These were originally done as private commissions, and several of them ended up at Paul's LCS. He subsequently bought a bunch of them (including a repro of one of Fradon's Aquaman Showcase covers, which Paul kept for himself, since he has a mad on for that book) and generously sent two of them to me! So, in a roundabout way, this post was brought to you by three great comic book talents: Ramona Fradon, Marie Severin, and Paul Kupperberg! Thanks Paul!
I have been the recipient of many great gifts--both real and intangible--since starting the Shrine, and its become one of the most important, rewarding parts of my life. But few things are as continually stunning to me as the idea that I'm friends with someone whose Aquaman comics I read when I was seven.

It's a generous gift and a beautiful piece. When I was lad, Ramona Fradon and Marie Severin's work. mostly for seperate companies, often seemed quaint and old-fashioned. Now I know I was an idiot ...
Very cool! And such a colorful, dynamic piece!
I have always loved Ramona Fradon's art. What a wonderful piece Rob. And how cool that Paul Kupperberg sent it to you. That just rocks!
Ramona and Marie are heady company to be listed with, Rob, but thanks! I knew the pieces were going to a home where they'd be loved.
So cool! What a great experience you have created for Aquaman fans!
Just cool as it could be, Rob - as art, and as a right home for that art. (Paul, you're good people.)

Incredible piece. The monster looks like a baby Bugala (see original series #47-48).
