This clever and beautiful painting, titled "The Birth of Mera", is by our newest F.O.A.M. member, Jen Monson.
Jen did the painting for a contest sponsored by a local comic book shop, creating her own Aqua-centric version of Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus." Jen tells me she didn't win, which really makes me want to see the one that did!
I think its great, and I'm so happy Jen sent it in to share on the Shrine. Thanks Jen and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

Wow, that's such a natural fit! Great job!
If that didn't win, we need to see about having the judges fitted for corrective lenses or possibly remedial eye surgery. Because that is gorgeous.
WOW! Breathtaking!!!
I must admit, the first time I saw "The Birth of Venus" in art class, I thought of Mera.
This is great!

I must admit the title scared me when I saw it on Twitter. Needless to say, I'm relieved and impressed.
Very cool!
That is an awesome painting. Great work Jen!
You go, Jen Monson! That's beautiful.
Thank you everyone! I really enjoyed painting this, and I am a member of FOAM before my husband!
