Extra Sequential #4 - 2010

sg
The magazine Extra Sequential was working on an article about Aquaman for their fourth issue, and in a switch of roles, they asked to interview me about the Sea King!

The interviewer, Kris Bather, just wrote to inform me the issue was originally scheduled for print (as the previous three had been), but due to external circumstances its running online only. You can read and/or download the whole fourth issue on Issuu--and I suggest you do: there's lots of cool articles besides the Aquaman piece, and visually the mag is really striking.

But for those of you who just want to read the Aquaman article, you can download the whole thing as a PDF here. And for those of you who just want to read the text, sans any of the visual niceties, I've pulled all that out and present it below.

Manta Culpa: This interview was conducted in early Summer, so in one of my answers I dinged DC Comics--and Dan Didio specifically--for what I considered ill treatment of Aquaman.

I thought I was being fair then, but in the intervening months--with Aquaman's presence in Brightest Day and news of his return to prominence--I've softened on that opinion a bit. In particular, Mr. Didio showed real class by agreeing to pose for the Shrine to show his support for Aquaman, so I regret sniping at him now. Had this interview been on a blog or website only, I would have asked to have that part edited out. But that wasn't an option here, so all I can do is apologize for my impoliteness.

Okay, anyway, here's the piece. I come in at the end:

Awesome, Rob! And you do the character (and all his fans) proud with your answers and comments. Aquaman (and us F.O.A.M.ers) couldn't ask for more! Cool stuff.

Went back & checked out the PDF, cause I was curious as to what pics were chosen, and I love them! Very bright and dynamic!

Thanks guys. As you can imagine, anyone who wants to interview me about Aquaman is going to get an enthusiastic yes!

I def recommend everyone download the whole piece--its really well put together, graphically.

Finally got around to reading this interview, Rob--great stuff! I'd take your version of Aquaman over Mr. Reed's, I think--stoic always sounds bland to me, I want a more positive, adventurous Aquaman.
