Wow, has Mera's profile ever raised this past year! And Smallville's season premiere was pretty much the best the show has been since the original Justice League episode. Can't wait!
Either Ben Stiller or his Dad, longtime "Seinfeld" & "King Of Queens" regular Jerry Stiller should appear (as a cameo) in a "Aquaman's Wife" episode, and then you can list in TV Guide as "Stiller and Mera, etc., etc.," Remember "Seinfeld" alumni Patrick Warburton- Elaine's boyfriend "David Putty" was "The Tick" and an animated "Supes" in those ads with Jerry Seinfeld for American Express, and Ben Stiller was "Mr. Furious" in the "Mystery Men", so it's not so farfetched...;D
so long as she's some sort of redhead wearing something green, with some sort of seashell type jewellery she'll be Mera. SV has done pretty well with it's female superheros so I reckon this'll be good. She may have a differnet power set, but for me, Mera is all about the attitude, not the powers.
Saranga--Yep, I agree. They may not call her Mera, per se, but she'll essentially BE Mera.
Besides, the show has been absurdly faithful to much of the minutiae from the DC universe; I can't imagine at this moment they'd bother to bring in a wife for Aquaman NOT to make her Mera!
You are so right. Mera appearing on Smallville after a history of comics obscurity is a testimony to the power that Geoff Johns wields at DCE right now. He freely admits he likes to play favorites with his characters and since he is a creative consultant on Smallville, I am sure he is the reason we will see Mera.
If he tweeter had said Mera I bet a number of his followers wouldn't have know who/what that was.
He may not have even been familiar with her himself before plans for the episode developed.
So identifying that "Aquaman's wife" would be in the episode is just the 1st step in introducing Mera into a much larger and not necessarily comic book reading audience.
This will be GREAT! First Aquaman not only reappears, but it seems it will be an Aqua-centric episode. The fact Tom's directing means his screen presence will be more limited, therefore more Aqua-goodness! Takes a little of the pain away from the failed pilot a few years ago.
Interesting--so I'm guessing that this is the same episode in which Aqualad will appear. (It was confirmed at SDCC that he would make an appearance on the show this season). Now we've just got to wonder WHICH Aqualad. I'm sure it's no doubt it will be Mera in all her redheaded glory (like Aquaman was married otherwise?), though when I last checked IMDB they didn't have actors listed for either Mera or Aqualad.

This will be Mera's live-action debut!
I can only imagine how hot the actress playing Mera opposite Alan Ritchson's Aquaman will need to be!
I wonder if they will somehow work in the crown ? LOL

Woohoo! Can't wait!
I wonder if this will somehow tie into the Aquaman's wife comment Tracy Morgan made on 30 Rock.
This is awesome! I hope they stay a but truer to Aquaman's mythos than before! Oh, Man I cannot wait!
@ Mr. On
umm, what?!?
Hahahaha @Joe, I'm with you on that one.
Now, I hate to play devil's advocate, but we're SURE they mean Mera? The 'tweet' only says "Aquaman's wife"...it does not say "Aquaman's wife, Mera".
This show has created its own continuity; it's not necessarily comics' continuity...
Mind you, fingers & toes crossed here it'll be our favorite aquatic red-head.

Mr.On--loooong way to go. :)

The only character I think they got really wrong was Bart. Their Lois, Dinah, Zatanna, Ma Kent etc have all been great.
@rob!

@Tempest127
I've heard that info is a misquote and the reporter/website should have named Aquaman not Aqualad in that report.
