Meiji Aquaman - 1979

sg
A couple of months ago, I did a post featuring shots of an unassembled Japanese snap-model kit, which came from the collection of F.O.A.M.er Jon Knutson. Neither Jon or I had much info about it beyond that.

Now, thanks to another F.O.A.M.er named Ramiro, above is a pic of the complete, assembled Aquaman figure, and boy howdy is it cool!

Ramiro pointed me to this blog, which features shots of the entire line of kits, called Meiji. The blog isn't in English, so I'm still in the dark as to the details it provides, but man oh man are the pics sweet--check out the assortment of DC characters on display.

Thanks again Jon, and thanks Ramiro!

Update: Courtesy F.O.A.M.er John Lijewski III comes the translation of the page linked to above:

"In 1979 the Meiji, one of the oldest and most respected brands of food products in Japan, placed inside one of its products, plastic figures to be detached and mounted as a gift.
There were 10 classic figures of Super-Heroes of DC Universe, each with about 5cm high and with five joints (neck, shoulders and legs). The figures came in boxes with a sweet, kind of toy popularly known today as 'Toy Candy'!"

Awesome, thanks John!

I can't access it here at the office, but by name it looks like it's in Japanese. If that is the case, a translation will be forthcoming tonight after I get home. :-)If it's not Japanese it will be Portuguese, in which case I can't help....:-(

Definitely looks like Portuguese. The blog seems to be about items (toys) made in Japan.

Rick is right...it's in Portuguese about toys in Japan. Sorry, guys!
