DC Super-Pets Sneak Peek!

sg
sg
On Wednesday the Shrine ran a brief piece on an upcoming line of chapter books called DC Super Pets, starring the various animal pals of the stars of the DCU. Drawn by Art Baltazar, I wondered whether any of the books would feature Aquaman. I think we can see now that the answer is a resounding yes!

The above cover to Heroes of the High Seas and character sketch was sent to me by an art director from Capstone Books, the division of Stone Arch Books that is publishing the series. He says of the series: "We couldn't be more excited about this new series, and thank you for taking the time to write about it. You won't be disappointed in the final product--I guarantee it!"

Of course, I'm thrilled that one of the books in the series will be starring Aquaman ("Along with some other supporting cast members you may recognize")--he deserves to be part of this, and props to whomever at DC and/or Capstone that suggested it. We've seen glimpses of the Sea King by Art in the pages of Tiny Titans, but here's our chance to see the whole Aqua-Family as rendered by the supremely talented Mr. Baltazar.

In addition to that, I really appreciate Capstone for taking the time to check out the Shrine and sending us this sneak peek. Now that's a company that knows how to do promotion!

Hooray--I'm looking forward to seeing Aqualad and Fluffy! They are my favorites among the Tiny Titans and this outing with Aquaman, Storm and Topo looks to be just as much fun. (Gee, I wonder if Tusky will make the cut some day)...?

Looks like I will be buying these in bulk and sending them out to all of my friends' kids for Christmas. And I'll be sure to have Art sign copies for me if he comes back to Mid-Ohio Con. :-)

Brian beat me to the "Aw Yeah!"

I'm so buying these for the kids as well. This is the kind of stuff we need! At least our heroes aren't all dark and angst-ridden EVERYWHERE!

Oh my gosh -- I'm not even sure why, but something about the way Storm is drawn just slays me. That's adorable.
