DC Teams House Ad - 1966

sg
This is a house ad sent to me by F.O.A.M. member Andy Mangels, highlighting some of DC's team books: the JLA, The Doom Patrol, The Blackhawks, and their newest creation, The Inferior Five.

It's an okay ad (although I wonder what's distracting Batman), but the text reveals one of the reasons why Marvel was able to overtake DC--in overall coolness, and then eventually in sales--by the late 1960s.

Thanks Andy!

Batman was probably looking away in disgust at the way DC was pushing the campy new 'super' Blackhawks. Now I love the Magnificent 7 but I wish that brief period in their history had never happened...

Everyone was doing campy once it made a hit of Batman.
