More Fun Comics #104 - July 1945

sg
Comics Weekend "The Great Goldfish Bowl!" by Joe Samachson(?) and Louis Cazeneuve.

More fun with More Fun!

Having pushed Green Arrow and Speedy off the More Fun covers, Dover and Clover have now set their sights on Superboy.

Aquaman, as always, just keeps his head down and does his job, filling the last eight pages of the book:

Turns out Spencer's offer is from his own money, not young Ronald's. He tells Aquaman that the goldfish has a small "RS"-shaped mark on its side, one of the reasons Ronald is so attached.

Aquaman takes on this crazy mission, and learns from a school of fish that some goldfish recently passed by. Aquaman follows the trail, until he comes across a giant net in the water:

Aquaman wonders how and why these crooks knew where to wait for him, but he doesn't have time to ponder that--he goes back on the trail of the goldfish!

Meanwhile, we learn that Ronald's Uncle Spencer is not who he claims to be--he set the trap for Aquaman, hoping his mission would fail and he would inherit his nephew's fortune. Now that Aquaman has escaped, his entire plan might be ruined!

Finally, Aquaman finds his quarry:

...having reunited Ronald and his goldfish, this is the end of another adventure for the Aquatic Ace!

I love those angry turtles on the last page. They're apparently so terrifying, the crooks just give up without a fight. The Golden Age Aquaman is all about results!
