Even though I've been running the Shrine for three and a half years now, I've never quite gotten a handle on whether to post pieces of Aquaman-related art found (either by me or someone else) on the web.
Part of me has always felt like it was bad form, taking someone else's work and putting it on the Shrine. At the same time, I think everyone who posts anything on the web is pretty hip to the fact that once you do put something out, the genie is out of the bottle.
So after getting two fine examples of Aquaman art in my in-box, I decided to create a new label--Aquaman Art Gallery--which will exclusively be for those kinds of pieces. (I'm not sure why I felt compelled to bore you all with this, but here we are)
Anyway, first up is the above piece, a crackerjack shot of the JLA and The Tiny Titans, courtesy Jim Lee. Nice to see Lee tackle Classic Aquaman! This was posted on Lee's TwitPic page, and was sent to me by F.O.A.M.er Joe Slab. Thanks Joe!
This really sweet shot is called "Strange Bat Fellows", which includes Aquaman brandishing his mighty trident!
Its by an artist named Coran "Kizer" Stone, who I was relatively unfamiliar with until F.O.A.M.er Dan Woodward did a whole post on him over at his blog It's A Dan's World. I really liked the stuff I saw and was happy to see Aquaman made it into one of his very cool illustrations (click the image to go to Kizer's site)!
Now that I've finally found a suitable way to post work like this, expect a lot more Original Aquaman Art to show up here on the Shrine!

I love extra posts on the Shrine and I love new labels. It's a great day.
Re the Kizer piece: Is that Bat-Mite peeking over Batman's shoulder? Way cool.
Love it! Great idea, always good to see how other artists present our King.
And two great pieces to kick it off!
Good stuff. It's too easy to miss good stuff in the blogosphere. It's a great idea to add great material like this here,
Thanks guys!
I also added a "FOAM: The Next Generation" label, which features little kid drawings of Aquaman!
Piece #1- I think its great to see that the Co-Publisher of DC recognizes Aquaman as one of the top 6 DC charachters.
Piece#2- Wow! Great find there. Imagine that piece with all Aqua-family in the forefront...
i love seeing original art so this is great for me :)
in regards to giving the creators due credit, you could always send them an email/leave a comment asking if you can cross post and link to to the art. that's what i do if i'm particularly taken with a post or picture found online.
Saranga-
You touched on one of the reasons it took me so long to get to this. I thought about emailing people before posting, but then I'd be doing nothing BUT emailing people all day.
I really strive to return every single email I get regarding the Shrine, which means some days I'm writing a dozen or more per day. So I wasn't too keen to increased that load. :)
So I decided by linking each piece to where I got it, that would be good enough. That's what would satisfy me if someone posted my work somewhere.
i think providing a link back and due credit is reasonable :)
Thanks for the mention Rob! Yeah, I thought Kizer's style was stunning and the way he did that piece was just crazy.
Good to see Jim Lee's take on the Tiny Titans too - you dont normally think of him as a 'funny strip' illustrator.
The news for me though has to be the "FOAM: The Next Generation" tags - kids drawings are always coolest - and it's always interesting seeing what angle they pick up on most. Sweet idea!
