Previews - March 2010

Boldsg
This week, Aquaman gets a rare solo shot on a Previews cover! Sure, it's the "B" cover (the one on the flip-side of the rest of the book), but its still something!

I'm glad to see DC is making this image in particular the focal point for a lot of their Brightest Day advertising. Let's hope this image represents what we all hope it does: a big, splashy (sorry) return of Classic Aquaman. (If it isn't, and DC is doing all this just to kill off Aquaman again, then we'll storm the DC offices with torches and pitchforks. I'll meet you all on the front steps of the building)

A bunch of F.O.A.M.ers told me this cover was coming, as well as our newest member, Jimmy PS Hayes (who had nice things to say about the Aquaman Shrine iPhone App, too!). Thanks Jimmy, and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

That's not the first.

Very cool. I do like the image, at least the real Aquaman. The Zombie-reflection is meh.

And if Aquaman is brought back just to be re-killed, I ... I will not be happy.

Do we know if there's any content in the mag specifically regarding Aquaman?

Tegan-
Oh--oops! Corrected.

Joe-
Yeah, here's THEIR chance to do Aquaman right. (again)

McDC-Nothing special, more about BD than Aquaman.

Instead of storming the DC offices with torches and pitchforks, shouldn't we use WATER guns and tridents?

Robby-Rob-
You are the director of the Aquaman Shrine, time to start acting like it and stop qualifying every single statement you make about Aquaman's return with the possibility that DC won't get it right. They are obviously putting a lot of thoughtful planning into his return so let's just be fans, go with it, and support the move! YAY AQUAMAN!!!

Joe,

The fun thing is, I'll almost certainly enjoy the run while it lasts, then look back at it critically in the future. I enjoyed Peter David's run immensely while it was running. I enjoyed Busiek and Williams efforts. There's only been one Aquaman run that I didn't enjoy at all while it happened.

After the fact, of course, I find lots of flaws and can be much more critical. But while the book is running I've always just been so happy Aquaman *had* a book that I couldn't ever bear to say, "they're doing it wrong!"

Joe-

Wow, I've been taken to task for being too positive sometimes, but I've never been criticized for being too negative.

I think my enthusiasm for Aquaman cannot be questioned at this point, but I've simply lived through too many Aquaman reboots to be 100% optimistic. If the new book (if there is one) is good, I'll be the first to say so.

Here, here, Rob. We HAVE lived through to many starts with premature stops to be anything but wary of a new series. We do want the best, but we are cautious. Experience tought us to be.

I hear you Rob, and its like being a fan of the Phillies, no matter how many times you get your hopes dashed, you always come back excited next season!

I have full confidence that DC is going to do Aquaman justice this time, especially with fans behind him like no other time in recent memory. That's all I meant by my comment ;)
