Superman/Batman Adventures Ad - 1996

sg
This...hastily put-together ad ran in DC's books in 1996, promoting the USA Network's repackaging of the early 1970s Super Friends cartoons.

Clearly, whoever created this ad took two Jose Luis Garcia Lopez stock poses and traced over them (with a none-too steady hand holding the Rapidograph), throwing in a page of art from the Super Friends comic book as a background. Nice to see Aquaman actually get mentioned (instead of Robin--that's unusual).

They must have re-run the show at other times of the day, there was no way I got up at 7am to watch it.

If I remember correctly, this show also featured the 1967 Filmation Aquaman series, so that might be why he was called out specifically...

And, yeah, it was re-run later at different times. I saw it when I came back from Japan in 2001.

Boomerang still shows this version of the series from time to time, thrown in when they air Super Friends. The shorts get rolled out too, with these openings. I wouldn't mind it if the theme songs weren't re-recorded on a 1985 Casio keyboard from Sears.

I don't remember this USA rerunning, at all.
