DC Super Friends Plush Doll - 2009

sg
Here's yet another Aquaman plush doll, again part of the DC Super Friends line, manufactured by The Toy Factory. It was sent to me by F.O.A.M.er Charles Howell, who works for the company. Thanks Charles!

These dolls measure about a foot high, and are pretty faithful replicas of the classic forms of the characters. Not to mention adorable as heck!

Can Charles tell us anything about the sales success of the Toy Factory DC line and Aquaman in particular?

@ r duncan - While I cannot go into numbers, I can say our DC Comics product is popular, more so than Marvel. The big guns always sell better, "everyone" knows Batman and Superman. That said this version of the Superfriends wasn't a big hit, and we quickly came out with the version that Rob featured earlier. So we did not get too many of these Aquaman in. We try to do a mix and I always try to make sure an Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern make it in the mix if the license allows it.

@ Russell - These would be found in crane machines or maybe even indoor amusement venues, it would probably be safe to say they would be missed if someone doesn't see them in a machine. I would have to see if we have any customers in OH and why they do not have Aquaman in their machines : )

Please refrain from using the word "adorable" when refering to the Sea King. Even if it is a plush doll, er, I mean, "Stuffed Action Figure".

Adorable? That Aquaman looks like he's built to kick some ass! In fact, I think he'd lay the smack down on you if you called him "adorable" to his face...

@chunky b- My family and I were at King's Island, Cincinnati in September. I saw the giant Superman and Green Lantern plushes (John Stewart, a really good choice by the way) and a Captiain America (?) in a claw machine in the "beer hall" place where they have the country music show. I looked in the case for Aquaman but didn't see him. I figured there wasn't one. As we were leaving my son said he saw a Flash plush as a prize in some kind of midway-target type game and he asked the guy if they had Aquaman. At the time, if I knew there was an Aquaman plush I would have scoured that place.

@ r duncan - If they were this style there would be the Flash, Aquaman, John Stewart Green Lantern, Superman and Batman in the assortment.

the "Buddy" style there are Batman, Superman, and Flash (like Mattel, no sound though) and we did Aquaman, John Stewart Green Lantern and Robin in the first assortment.

I personally like the way the buddy style looks, for some reason the factory messed with my artwork on the Aquaman face here.

Oh and if you are a Marvel fan we did this type of thing with the Spider-Man and friends, so there would be Wolverine, Hulk Spider-Girl, Iron Man, Spidey and Captain America in that assortment.

I'm working on some additional designs so there should be some more in the Buddy DC Comics style coming out.So if anyone has any suggestions...

I guess I should add that we do not sell plush retail, or single pieces. We sell to the amusement market in bulk and usually in an assortment.

Thanks to Charles for hooking me up; I've ordered a case of those Buddy Super Friends that Rob talked about earlier. I had to buy 120 of 'em, though. (!) I'll be selling 'em on ebay if you are interested, or contact me directly. The first few sets will be for some of my friends who just had kids, and of course for me...but that still leaves 16 sets, haha!

My wife is going to kill me when she sees the bill. :-)
