AquaSketch by Dave Fox - 2009

sg
This piece, by artist Dave Fox, was the one I picked up at the Big Apple Con last Friday.

I took notice of Dave's work because of the style and the fact he had a lot of monster art, including shots of characters like The Thing and I Walked With A Zombie, two of my favorites. I love getting Aquaman sketches from people who wouldn't normally get to draw him, and when someone like that really gets into it, the piece can turn into something really remarkable.

That's what happened here---Dave put a ton of detail into just a tiny (2.5 x 3.5") space, and yet kept it sharp and dynamic. I don't know why, but for some reason my favorite part I think is Arthur's silhouetted right hand, looking a little like a shark fin.

Its a really great piece, Dave was great to talk to, and it's another fine addition to my collection!

WOW, this is awesome. Even more so for its 2.5 x 3.5 size! It looks like it could be a poster or something. I *LIKE* this!!

Man, I love that sketch! That should be the cover of the next Aquaman comic! The pose is very iconic, but I don't think I've ever seen him drawn that way. Very cool.

Very nice, love the gritty style and the seriousness of the face. It is very skillful to get that much detail and atmosphere in such a small area.

I'm going to see if Dave Fox has a website, I'd like to see more of his work.

Wow that's awesome - I love the bubbles most, as dumb as that sounds - the way he's rendered the water is really cool!

Thanks for sharing Rob!
