"Aquaman's Lament"

This is the song "Aquaman's Lament" by the band The Motion Sick. In the last couple of months, several of you sent me links to the song, but I kept forgetting to do a post on it (probably because it didn't physically reside in my Shrine in-box).

But a week or so ago, Mike Epstein from The Motion Sick emailed me, wondering if he could be enrolled in F.O.A.M. over it--and now that it has a video, I figured it was the best possible time to post it!

If I may put my nerd hat on (more snugly that it already is, of course), I think I take issue with the song's premise--I think Aquaman enjoys talking to fish. I bet there were days when, in the middle of enduring another self-righteous tirade from Green Arrow on the JLA satellite, Aquaman thought to himself, "I'd rather be talking to a grouper right now."

That said, its a fun song with a fun video, so
Mike, welcome to F.O.A.M.!

Ha Ha. In my job, I have that feeling too sometimes.

Rob, have you ever heard "Arthur Curry" by the band OOKLA THE MOK ? Here is a link to the lyrics:

You can find the audio (very faintly) on youtube, bu there is no actual video.

Robbo! When are we going to write the angry response song to this!? You need to get out here to the studio in Colorado so we can work on it post-haste!

Of course, writing a song about Aquaman while in a land locked state just seems a bit wrong...sigh...

Aaron-

I have hard that Ookla the Mok song, just haven't gotten around to posting it. Maybe because there's no video..

Sean-

Being in a landlocked state as you are, the only logical answer is for you to come here, then we'll go to Ocean City, NJ, to get in the proper mood.

We'll go in the Summer though, because NJ weather officially SUCKS right now, and pretty much will until about May.

Although it makes fun of the Sea King by taking the hackneyed "his powers suck" tack, I gotta admit it's a clever song.

But Ultimates versions of Thor and the rest ... blech ...

There's another song by the title of "Aquaman's Lament" by Mark Aaron Jones that's a bit catchier and has our hero trying to pick up on Vicki Vale...

And Ookla the Mok rocks.
