History of the DC Universe Figure by DC Direct

sg
This is the brand new Aquaman figure released as part of the History of the DC Universe line by DC Direct. As is the standard with DC Direct, its an excellent figure, beautifully sculpted with a great package.

Wait a minute, that didn't sound right...

Illustrations of the characters by George Perez (taken from the original mini-series) appear on the sides (you can see Aquaman's arm on the bottom right), and there are origins of the four characters in this 2nd series--Aquaman, Flash, Black Lightning, and The Creeper--on the back. In this case, I was glad to see Aquaman's origin is the "Son of a lighthouse keeper and an outcast from Atlantis" one.

I picked up this figure from my LCS (All Things Fun of Berlin, NJ, 'natch) about two weeks ago, but it sat next to my computer all this time, because A)I'm lazy, and B)I'm such a bad photographer that I knew that whatever shots I took of it would look weak.

But then fortune smiled upon me, and I got an email from Tim Van Orden, telling me he was an Aquaman fan and enjoyed the Shrine, and that since he hadn't seen a post on this figure yet, he assumed I didn't have it and sent the above picture along! Awesome--my laziness paid off! I love it when that happens!

So thanks to Tim, we have today's post and a nice shot of the figure to enjoy. Thanks Tim, and welcome to F.O.A.M.!

Okay, first of all: You, lazy??? No one here buys that for a second, dude.

Second: AWESOME figure!!!

Ditto what Wings said.
Not laziness. Serendipity.

Great fig! I love the expression on his face, an action figure who doesn't look grim. It reminds me I gotta snag the Creeper!

Lazy is whoever sculpted that figure but didn't bother to sculpt his shirts scales. He's a greta looking figure but looks unfinished because of it.

I was with Tim when he bought the figure, man was he excited! I have to say he is slowly turning me over to AM.

Black trunks! Wa-hoooooo!

jrloafy mentions that the figure looks unfinished w/o the scales whereas I always think a Sea King with solid green pants looks unfinished.

Any other black trunk boosters out there?

Yeah, I gotta say.
I'm not feelin' this one.
Too "cheesy" looking with the grin and roided out pose.
I don't know.
Just not feelin it.

It's Gettin' Geeky in Here

I'm ok with the cheesy grin (it's good silver age stuff), but agree with D and Jason about the roid look. That's a little too much for me. I do dig the black trunks, though...

I don't know, I kinda don't mind the musculature. Check out the Alex Ross JUSTICE figure for a figure I think looks WAY too muscular for me.

I love the black trunks and miss the scales, but (shrugs) to me this *looks* like Aquaman.

He kind of looks like the actor Simon Baker.
