Model and Toy Collector #24 - 1993

sg
I first came across the charming cover (by artist Brian Clarke) to this issue of Model and Toy Collector over on the late, lamented Tinty Titan blog.

I liked it so much that I bought a copy of the magazine myself, but never got around to doing my own post on it. Since Damian of Tiny Titan put up a good portion of the inside article, I'm posting the Aquaman-related stuff that he didn't, so click the cover to read the rest.

Hey, I just noticed...why doesn't Aquaman have a chair? Isn't he playing Flash: The Board Game?

I actually bought this issue off the shelf when it was first published. There are several cool photos inside of obscure JLA collectibles. Really cool stuff that I wish I had.

Aquaman must have lost the first round of musical chairs.

I can't remember where I first saw that magazine myself, but like you I ended by hunting it down. Your post really makes we want to go back and read it again.

Aquaman may not have gotten a chair, but poor J'onn didn't even get an invite. Sitting in his apartment, waiting for the phone to ring--it's okay, J'onn--someday people will think of you as one of the big seven. THEN where will the Atom be.

Aquaman has actually just pushed his chair back, out of view, and is getting ready to leave the game responding to a distress call at sea, as with anyone leaving a game early he's making the comment "don't move my guy, I'll be right back and I know what space he's on"

This being the early JLA, they of course have split into teams to play the game.

Superman and Wonder Woman play the red piece, Green Arrow and Aquaman play the yellow piece, Flash and Batman play the blue piece, Atom and GL play the green piece.
