Breaking News

sgIs this the face of Aquaman?

Thanks to a tip from a friend (who shall remain anonymous--let's call them "C.King"), it appears that actor Santiago Cabrera (Heroes) has definitely been cast as Aquaman in the still on Justice League: Mortal movie (Great Neptune, what an awful title).

This bit of casting is listed as "rumored" over on the movie's IMDB page, but the tip I got today comes from someone who basically got it from the horse's mouth--i.e., Santiago himself.

Now, of course, this could still all change, but if he has been cast then at least we have an indication of where the producers of the film are going, at least in regards to Aquaman.

Thoughts?

Give him some blond hair and a hair cut and I think he'd look like a decent Aquaman.

Hi Rob, Sergio from Chile here again... as you may know Santiago Cabrera is a chilean actor who is developing his carrer in Hollywood. Despite that, I have never liked the idea of him being Aquaman, and as far as I know the Justice League movie is well buried, so I wouldn't give to much credit on those rumors, even if they come from Santiago himself... the cast for that movie is awful!

Well, it's more than rumored at this point. Santiago was doing a play in London and was offered the part. It's listed on IMDB as rumored, but having spoken with the actor himself, he is signed on. Of course its in the development stage and A LOT could change, but as it goes, he will be playing Aquaman. Since he knows me and knows I am a big Aquaman fan, he asked me where he could find info and history of the character. When it's confirmed there will be an official announcement another fan's blog as well as an interview that will be run on bith that site and this site. The only thing that will stop him from playing Aquaman at this point is if the movie deal itself falls through or it goes through a different production company. Remember that IMDB is not always correct and up to date. It's often up to the actors themselves to update the info.

Stay tuned. I liked him a lot on Heroes, and who's to say with some bleached hair, that he's already mentioned to me he has been asked to do, and the right costume, with his talent he could pull it off.

As long as he's not as stupid as that American Idol contestant who played Aquaman in Smallville I will be fine with him.

I thought this movie was most definitely "on hold" in other words...dead. I hope so. Nothing against this guy, but this just seemed like a bad made-for TV movie, with random casting, and a strange thing for WB to do to weaken their Batman and Superman franchises. I heard Chris Nolan and Christian Bale weren't too happy with the news of "another" Batman competing with theirs, and now that DK has done insanely well, I can't see WB ticking Nolan off with a gamble like this. Plus, now they are wanting to relaunch Superman. This could weaken that launch considerably.

I want to see a good Aquaman, GL, Flash and WW film, but I'd rather see them concentrate on each member at a time, THEN do a JL movie, ala Marvel's Avengers plan. I think some of this talk still going on is being generated by the actors or their reps. They were legitimately cast, but they are still talking about it even though it's dead, just to generate their own buzz.

Well, that's my take (and hope) anyway. I just have had a BAD feeling about this movie since day one. I can sink every character in one fell swoop.

Vincent Chase is the only guy who should ever play Aquaman.

We live in hope...

But am I the only guy tired of every new movie-ized superhero being a teen titan?

I love it when they looked 35, not 21...

I don't see it. And I don't beleive just bleaching his hair will work. I mean, was anybody really happy with Jessica Alba as Invisible Woman? Beautiful? Yes. Sue? No.

Nope, don't see it at all. But then again I never see it and I wind up having to apologize for running my mouth off 'bout how (for example) Robert Downey Jr is all wrong for Tony Stark.

I will agree with the sentiment prefering an older looking Aquaman, however. To me, perfect Aqua-casting would be Neal McDonough.

Even having spoken to the Santiago, I honestly don't see it either. I liked the kid who played him in the unaired pilot and I think there are a few actors out there whou could play him. I think Chance Kelly from Generation Kill could make a REALLY good Aquaman. I guess I just want to trust his talent, but I'm ready to be disappointed. Nothing against Santiago and I told him as much.
