Aquaman Quilt

sg
This amazing quilt--made from twenty different Aquaman t-shirts--was put together by newest F.O.A.M. member Mac Schafer.

Mac sent me some photos of it, telling me they made it for his son, who, like his Dad, is a big Aquaman fan. That's great to hear, and that is one heck of a cool quilt. As a child, I would've slept mightily soundly under something like that.

But Mac wasn't quite done--after I thanked him for sending it along, he sent told me his son has a "bit of an Aquaman Shrine" in his room:

sg
...double awesome!

That's a nice set up, with a great variety of Aqua-Artists represented. Nice job, Mac!

Mac's photo got me thinking of something I've wanted to do for a while, and now seems like the perfect time.

I'd like to invite anyone and everyone who has their own version of an Aquaman Shrine--whether it's a full-fledged collection of stuff, or just an Aquaman action figure on your desk--to take a pic or two of it and send it in.

I'm loathe to call this a contest, because I don't believe in saying one person's way of honoring their hero is "the best." And I don't plan on having anyone win anything...yet.

But I would love to show off all of your collections, so send your photos in! The deadline is October 12, 2008, and I will publish everyone's submission the next day, the second anniversary of the Aquaman Shrine.

So get to it, AquaFans!

I love this! I asked my sister who is into quilting to make me a super-hero quilt, but she hasn't finished it yet. This is quite a piece of work, Mac! You (or your wife, or whomever) should be proud of yourself.

Point of clarification. I merely supplied the t-shirts to the 'Campus Quilt Company' and they did the quilting. My skills only go so far and quilting would not be in my 'bag of tricks.'
