PSA Sticker - 1992

sgThe fourth and last of the PSA stickers DC put out in 1992, this one being the grimmest of them all, and that's saying something.

I've said it each time before I posted one of these, but I'll say it one last time--the effort and message is admirable, commendable; but the execution is misguided.

No one wants to look such a depressing image. This really doesn't make you want to Get Involved; more likely it makes you put it down and walk away.

A poor defenseless bird covered in oil? Sadly realistic, yes, but I want to see Aquaman tell and/or show me how I can help!

It does kind of give a "wow, things are so bad Aquaman looks like the Tarman."

I think the lead up to this sticker, and the constant ignoring of the issue and his plea would have been a fine lead in to his bedraggled piratey look of years later.

I also don't like the message "Save the Earth"? It's too much like "Just say no". If they wanted an effective message they could have had Aquaman give tips to help the environment.

Fine message. Weird image.

But, 'tis the season - he looks like Marley's Ghost!

Of all the pornography of doom messages, this one at least gets suggests responsibility as being a positive action/message.
