DC Superheroes Ruler - 1977

sgYou guys are amazing!

No sooner did I post yesterday's ad featuring the DC superheroes ruler--and bemoaning the fact I don't have one--then a scan of said ruler was sent to me by F.O.A.M. member David Kelly(no relation...that I know of).

In addition, F.O.A.M.er Russell Burbage offered some first-hand thoughts in yesterday's comments. They are both lucky enough to own one of these beauties, and I do not. And yet I get up every morning.

As you can see, there's a real smorgasboard of DC house styles here:
Hawkman, Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Arrow, and Green Lantern by Neal Adams
Batgirl and Robin by Carmine Infantino
Shazam! by C.C. Beck
Wonder Woman by Mike Sekowsky
Aquaman by Murphy Anderson
...and is that a Jack Cole Plastic Man?

Whoever did the art, this is one cool piece. It's probably a good idea I didn't have this as a kid; I never would've gotten any schoolwork done that involved drawing a straight line.

Thanks David and Russell!

That is a Jack Cole Plastic Man, but the Wonder Woman is Mike Sekowsky.

I think that's a Giordano Plastic Man (done in the style of Cole) from the cover of DC Special #15 from 1971, actually.

hmm, good eye, KM! they look awfully close, down to the reflected pattern in the goggles.

I'm liking Hawkman's head on that ruler. He looks like he's not far from tearing someone's arms off and drubbing their best friend with them.

I'm on the prowl for this. I bet there's a warehouse in Dover just full of these things!
