JLA Stock Art by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez

sg

One of my favorite pieces of Garcia Lopez JLA stock art, this is such a happy, bright, dynamic shot.

I love how Flash and Zatanna are holding hands(referencing their super-brief romantic relationship from two issues of JLA), and how Lopez even worked Martian Manhunter into it, even though he hadn't part of the team for a long time. My only quibbles are that Aquaman should be more prominent, and once again there is no Hawkgirl. What did DC have against Shayera, for pete's sake?

One odd piece of trivia: this poster surfaced hanging over George Costanza's bed in an episode of Seinfeld. Since this poster was over ten years old by the time of the episode, it was a curious inclusion, to say the least! Everyone knows Jerry was a Superman fan, but George?

Maybe George was a Batman fan.

George is totally into Hal Jordan.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The Canadian arm of Kenner (Irwin toys) made this art a cardboard display sign and added the Superpowers logo. I got three of them from a former employee some time ago but eventually cashed out.

I have a new, distressed T-shirt with this art. I love it, although upon closer examination, Black Canary seems out of scale and too large in this pic. She's right beside Hal, bending over. If she stood straight up, she'd be a foot taller than him!

I find it funny that it looks like J'onn is disapprovingly staring at Flash and Zee.

Hawkgirl would have he revenge when she subplanted most of these guys on JL/JLU animated merchandise!!!
