DC Super Friends Ad - Mattel
This appeared in a recent issue of ToyFare and I thought to myself, why isn't this ad running in the comics? It's a weird era in comics when most of the ads in them are not for toys and games, but cars.
It's a wonderfully composed ad, simple and direct and they even managed to get some dramatic lighting in there. I like how Batman is the only one not looking directly into the camera...he's always scoping out the room, that Bruce...
From the empty pegs I've been seeing at Target, it seems like this line is a hit, so I hope they go beyond the initial 2nd wave of Hawkman, Cyborg, and the AquaSub!

This is the first time I have ever seen these toys. The ad does look good.
I have yet to find a single Aquaman (or Lex Luthor, for that matter.) I even asked the Target guy when they were going to get more in, and he told me to check back next week. (sigh)
I don't think Canada has seen the "Aqua Wave" yet. I can't justify it's purchase, my daughter is indifferent and my son too old. Why couldn't have Mattel have come up with this two years ago?
I really dig this line and that ad is really nice, the way I justify the purchase, since my son is way too old, is for research! Now I don't know if that will work when I go to get the Batmobile, but it's worth a try!
A dig these toys, and I'd say Aquaman is tied for second best looking with Lex Luthor, based solely on the add (I've only seen the World's Finest & John in stores.) Do I have to spell out first prize, because it seems obvious to me Flash takes it, and I don't even particularly like that character?
