DC Super Friends Figure by Mattel - 2007

sgMy Super Friend has arrived!!

F.O.A.M.er Charles Howell let me know that Toys R Us's website was selling some of the new Mattel DC Super Friends figures, Aquaman being one of them!

I gave Target one last chance to stock him, but I knew that when I happened to be there on Tuesday morning around 1030am and the Super Friends pegs were picked clean(the victim of a Comic Book Guy-esque collector I'm sure), I figured it would be forever until I found him, so I went right home and ordered the Sea King(two of 'em!) online.

Having opened one up, it's plain to see that these are a really fine line of toys--not only is the figure sturdy and well-made, not only does he squirt water(!), not only is Aquaman in his classic uniform, but he comes with a little collector card that is one piece of a larger group shot, thereby instilling that I-gotta-get-'em-all mentality that all good toy lines have.

I've heard that in addition to the initial line of Aquaman, Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Lex Luthor, Mattel is going to release a Hawkman and Cyborg, with hopefully more to come. This line deserves to be a huge hit--they are perfect for little tykes to play with, and for overgrown fanboys like myself to treasure.

Ooooh, gotta get him!!! He looks adorable....which I haven't been able to say about an Aquaman product since, well...the Pocket Hero line several years ago?

DC is coming out with a comic for this in their Johnny DC kids line. There's a pic of issue #1 cover over at Newsarama. Classic Aquaman, monthly!

I went back to TRU online, and Aquaman was all sold out, I'm hoping they get some more in, I hear he is the short pack, so you know all the scaplers will be hitting those cases when they are put out. Remember when you could go to the store and they had plenty for everyone...

Anyway, I found Sups, Bats, and another one of my Favs, the Flash in the little kid section of Wal Mart not the usual action figure isle that Target has them stocked. Not a big fan of the Mart, but found myself there this weekend and they had pretty much the first assortment untouched.

Really loving this line, I going to try and make it out this week to get Lex and Green Lantern.

Not a problem on the tip, you were the first person I thought of when I saw it, glad I could help. I was really amazed out how fast they went as well, you really got in at the right time.

I haven't been able to find one anywhere. I'm REALLY depressed about it, because he's the cutest Aquaman I've seen in ages. Me want.

I just hope they go like the Total Justice figs... rare at first then common as dirt.

By the way, thank you very much for the package for the little one. I love it!

Looks a lot like that recent Marvel line of figures for toddlers. Of course, to paraphrase Rodney Dangerfield, on Aquaman it looks good.

Will this series have Robin and Wonder Woman? They are part of the original Super Friends as are Wendy and Marvin. ;-)

WW seems to be missing from every new line of DC toys...is her oft-delayed movie tieing up the rights somehow? she's not part of this line, so far at least.

ditto Robin, who i think is spoken for by Teen Titans Go!

I went through 14 comments for the answer to a question I can't believe no one asked:

"not only does he squirt water(!)"

From where exactly?

*Ahem*

>>From where exactly?<<

oh, that's why Aquaman has been recalled!

it occurs to me i still didnt answer your question! the water comes from the trident. it attaches by a clear tube into the water base, and you press down on it to make it work.

cooool.
