This is an actual reel of 16mm Filmation Aquaman cartoons! I found it on ebay and thought it was such a weird, one-of-a-kind item I grabbed it immediately.
Luckily, a friend of mine named Harry collected films on, you know, film, and at the time I bought this(around 2000), was doing a weekly screening of great and/or obscure films in the back room a local theater.
He generously agreed to run these as the "opening cartoon" segment one night, I got to hear and see the classic Filmation cartoons looking and sounding nearly as crisp and clean as they looked when they first aired. Thanks, Harry!
Someday when Trace and I get a a new house, I'll throw a classic Summer Party and run these on a bedsheet out in the backyard, and you're all invited!

I'm jealous of you being able to see it in the theatre like that. I have some Battle of the Planets reels that I've always wanted to show.
That is truly wonderful. That had to be one of the coolest things to see on the big screen.
Rob-
You're lucky that the reel hadn't "pinked" - lots of mass-printed film from that time has faded/color shifted.
(Anyone need a nice old 16mm projector?)

P.S.- Just a little plug for Rob's other sites: TAS seems to get the most traffic, but the others are World-Class too!
