Aquaman's Supersea Aquarium - 1974

sgI figure Monday morning and the start of the week is a good time to put up something exciting. So here's Aquaman's Supersea Aquarium, made by the good folks of Living World!

When I came across this on ebay a few years ago, I couldn't believe it--I had never heard of it before, what a treasure I thought! So I didn't let anything--cost, effort, common sense--get in my way of acquiring it. Soon, it was mine.

It arrived at my doorstep a week or so later, I opened it up, and...well, it was pretty much just a cheap plastic fishtank with a cardboard background insert of Aquaman, like what's seen on the box. That's it. I couldn't help but feel a little let down.

I figure this is, like the sea sled, another case of a manufacturer having a pre-existing item lying around, and they thought of a cheap way to move a few. They license Aquaman from DC, build one extra piece to tie it together, and there you are--an Aquaman Aquarium!

Oh well. I'm still glad I have it, because you rarely see it surface (sorry) on ebay, and it does have a certain charm being such an odd piece of merchandise. Plus the box is really nice...
