Brightest Day #17 Preview

sg
Several on-the-ball F.O.A.M.ers just sent the Shrine this image, the newly-released preview cover to what I believe is Brightest Day #17, out in January.

Looks like a real Aqua-centric issue, thanks guys!

I am stoked that AQUAMAN is represented on the DCU Icons Cover Series in January!!!
There will be 3 other Brightest Day covers including the Hawks, Martian Manhunter, and Firestorm as well.

The Aquaman cover featured here is a variant, which has been a theme for the Aqua-covers throughout Brightest Day, due to Ivan Reis being his identified artist of choice.

How do fellow FOAMers feel about the variants? DC has made them more available by increasing them to a 1:10 ratio but I'm wondering if some Aquafans are still missing out on obtaining them?

Joe--Not that I care all that much, but I *never* end up with a variant cover when I pick up my books. The only one I have is the one you were kind enough to send me.

Joe- I always pick up the variant Aqua Covers. My local comic shop knows me as the Aquaman guy so they always hold one for me. I bet every comic show refers to all of us as THE Aquaman guy. haha

How many more issues of BD are there? I just want it to end and let us get on with life and hopefully an Aquaman series.

@Russell

There are 26 total issues of BD with the series ending in May '11. GJ and DD have stated that they are investing in a long term plan to revitalize Aquaman by being true to the character and introducing him to a whole slew of fans who would never have been interested in him without Blackest Night/Brightest Day...the goal being to build his fan base so that when they do launch an AQUAMAN project, it will be a success both creatively and sales wise too. Hang in there buddy!

It may come before then. I know that the new Hawkman book has already been started.

As far as variants, they are usually available, but I go to the shop pretty early. Though I usually only by Andy Kubert variants anyway.

Where was this image posted (originally)?

Brent-

It ran on CBR, which is where the image here is linked to.

This is a nice cover, but I think in the whole time I've been getting comics, I've only had one variant set aside for me, no sorry make that two.

Still it is an awesome image and one that centers nicely on the desktop!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYESSSSS!!!

Can't. ever. get. enough. Aquaman!!!

I love Ivan Reis. He's one hell of a good artist!

Is it worth mentioning that Aquaman had the cover of BD #2 all to himself and only appeared in, like, two panels in that issue?

Having said that, I really like this cover. I love how Reis draws Aquaman and I hope this leads to bigger and better things after Brightest Day.

DC announced the story for this issue and it will be Hawkman and Firestorm centric. Sigh. I also never end up with the variant covers - mostly because the comic shops pre-price them higher and more often than not - those issues prove to be busts. Double sigh.
