Remember what I said yesterday, about it being a (finally!) good day in the toy aisle at Target?
Well, it was actually a really good day, because not only did I finally find a DC Universe Aquaman, but hanging right next to him was his arch-foe, Black Manta! Score and double-score!
I'm glad Mattel went with Manta's older, more universally-recognized look, not the more monstrous, anthropomorphized version they mention on the back of the package--there's something so basic, so elegant about this design that it makes for a perfect bad guy. Manta was rocking the Weird, Creepy Voice Coming From A Soulless Helmet look long before Darth Vader made it fashionable.
...and now that you've taken the bait, mini-home-wrecking manta will go to work! all systems go sucker!
ReplyDeleteDouble score is right!

ReplyDeletei'm not keeping Manta in the package just because i'm an obsessive collector!
Dude, your toy luck continues to inspire envy! I've had 0 luck tracking down either Arthur or Black Manta.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, a double score indeed! Awesome toy haul Rob! Besides Firestorm and Harley, Aquaman and Black MAnta are the only ones I'm going to pick up.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think I was excited to finally find a Series 1 Batman a few weeks back.
I've been lucky enough to have my Aquaman for a little over a month now. I actually have him on the water base that came with Marvel Legends Namor, and it looks pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to score the 1st Appearance Artie Joe and J'onn for $5 on FCB, and that was my major toy score this week.
having gotten so lucky on one day, i will probably not find another toy i want in target for the next two years...
