But I wouldn't mind if they brought back Charybdis and make him a more prominent, recurring villain.

JT: while I've always thought the trident looked cool, it is pretty impractical. Poseidon used it, too, so it makes me wonder — do he and Arthur use it to keep bad fish in line? Cuz it looks an awful lot like a harpoon...

But yeah, I'm very excited about this book! I'm assuming it's the Trident of Poseidon, which we first saw during Peter David's run. The trident also appears in the new Justice League cover. In fact, we've been seeing it more and more, even in the DCU online game. My question is ... has it ever been revealed what kind of power it possesses? I keep reading references to its "great power" but I've only seen Arthur use it as a straight-up weapon. The thing is ... a trident makes for an awkward weapon and it's much too big to be useful as a salad fork ... so I'm hoping it possesses some useful magical properties. Anyone know something about this?JTnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35995922.post-8894148917809511612011-06-03T01:35:09.509-04:002011-06-03T01:35:09.509-04:00Oh how I will rage if the piranhas eat his hand. Moreover, Reis has more in common with Jim Lee and Alan Davis (kind of a hybridization of the two, to my eye) than Marc Silvestri. Even then I'd say if you can't pick out those four artists work from one another, you don't know very much about comics.

Very excited about this series--and a very nice cover that does exactly what it needs to. Establishes Aquaman as a strong force to be reckoned with, and that things are dangerous, exciting, and pretty cool below the ocean surface. As long as there's some humor and joy to this book, it's going to be the best the character's been in 40 years.David J. But all comic art is evolutionary anyway in that it's inspired and influenced by what's come before. Kind of like everything in society in general for the most part.JDnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35995922.post-83621135616124799182011-06-02T18:06:34.156-04:002011-06-02T18:06:34.156-04:00marc silvestri does aquaman? looks like he brought...marc silvestri does aquaman? looks like he brought the little demons from the darkness along for the ride...

kind of sick of artists straight copying other artists styles. who was the last original artist?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35995922.post-82595670288380292082011-06-02T16:10:05.849-04:002011-06-02T16:10:05.849-04:00Actually these foes look more like Piranha people ...Actually these foes look more like Piranha people than the movie "xenomorph" Aliens.JDnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35995922.post-77496965310397991082011-06-02T15:47:08.145-04:002011-06-02T15:47:08.145-04:00You see the same "aliens" in the reflect...You see the same "aliens" in the reflection of the points of the trident.r duncannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35995922.post-35618610920573799362011-06-02T15:34:27.140-04:002011-06-02T15:34:27.140-04:00The response to this image online & via twitte...The response to this image online & via twitter has been incredible!

Is that image 3-D because it certainly looks like it.

Is it September yet?Joe Slabhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17830460003862069026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35995922.post-85811647004958498902011-06-02T14:21:33.003-04:002011-06-02T14:21:33.003-04:00Next question: Any chance the demons of the deep p...Next question: Any chance the demons of the deep pictured here could be the DCNu's version of Atlanteans?Ryannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35995922.post-43752501510395844162011-06-02T14:18:46.873-04:002011-06-02T14:18:46.873-04:00That cover is amazing!
