This ad, another one for a bunch of school supplies emblazoned with DC characters, doesn't feature much Aquaman on it, but what it does feature represents a significant moment in my career(?) as an Aquaman Collector.
I had the Aquaman Pencil Case when I was a kid, and it was the first item that I ever used eBay for, since I wanted to find it again. I quickly did, which which was the first step on the long crazy road that's led me here!
I can picture some industrious kid trying to sell his parents on getting him a Bat-Copter--"But Mom, it's for school! It's a school supply!"

I found the ruler and still have it, but I NEVER found the pencil case. (sigh)
ReplyDeleteMy parents never bought me school supplies with comic book characters on them. Not even Archie. The note books were plain one colors. I do suddenly remember having a Batman 3 ring binder but I think my cousin gave me that when he didn't want it anymore.
ReplyDeleteI was too young for these, but I remember this from backissues.
ReplyDeleteI went through those AHI Batcopters though. Man, those were the coolest rack toys EVER. Like almost all things AHI made in the 70s, they had a corresponding Spidey toy like it.

You know, if DC made an Aquaman notebook, I would totally use that in class....I wonder what my professors would make of it....
ReplyDeleteI had the Batman version of the pencil sharpener shown on this page. Happy memories!
ReplyDeleteI had the Aquaman spiral notebook (which shows Aquaman riding Storm against a green background)and wanted the companion folder/portfolio, but was never able to find it.
